Well dudes. We made it. And sorry we haven't updated the blog with various London tidbits for awhile. It might have been a bit boring for you all to read our complaints about not having found work every day for the past six weeks or so...
The good news is that we finally have both found jobs! And we can properly commence our life in London with a few £££'s under the belt. Golly it is expensive here.
Upon arrival we moved into a flat in north London for 2 weeks while we commenced the job hunt and looked for a more permanent residence. Our first few weeks were busy spent in internet cafes and talking to people about jobs while still seeing the sites around our new home.
A few of the early touristy scenes visited included Madam Tussauds where we met many famous people, the busker filled South Bank and Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the Notting Hill Carnival which is attended by about a million people! We also splashed out an hit the town last week to see Chicago which was absolutely brilliant and dined in a trendy pizza place in the city for a special birthday treat.
We have now successfully moved into a flat in the kiwi-aussie area of south-west London that is Putney. It is a very cool place with a tube ride to central London of about 30 mins and plenty of shops and pubs around to keep us busy. Living with another kiwi couple, an aussie chick and a South African guy there will never be a dull moment come sporting fixtures and they are a really nice group to share a few pints with.
Simon is working at the big and trendy Daily Telegraph which is based in Kent (about an hour and a half train ride from our place) and I have just scored a wicked job working for Capital Shopping Centres who own 14 or so centres around the country. Thank goodness for a job. The pay isn't too bad here so we can start living on something other than beans again!
These past 6 weeks have been testing to say the least with the bank balance steadily decreasing but onwards and upwards from here. Stay tuned.
