The Vengaboys song was getting a battering as we arrived in Ibiza.
The view from our balcony was absolutely amazing, and the pool fantastic, but the hotel lost mega points for no air conditioning. We had drinks on the balcony before venturing out into the town. The array of costumes (or lack thereof!) in Ibiza was amazing. Some girls just did tape. Enough said.
Next day we got up very late and walked along the beachfront and had a fab swim before our big night out. 60€ for entry into Space but included a bus ride there (and back???) and a free bar at neighbouring place for a couple of hours. We drank up a storm which was lucky as once inside beers were 10€ and water 8€!! Unbelievable. Space was absolutely huge with five or so rooms each with a different DJ and a roof terrace with aeroplanes zooming overhead. We had a blast and took a million photos of crazy antics.
Next day after a fabulous well deserved cooked breakfast Si and took a boat to a beach on a different part of the island and relaxed with a good book. We met back with the tour to head to the infamous Cafe del Mar for a fantastic sunset atmosphere. We hit the town again after more balcony and foyer drinking and stayed up very late at es Paradise.
Unfortunately the next day saw an end to Ibiza and a very very long ferry ride to Valencia that was only broken by a crazy lunch and many games of Uno.
With that infectious Venga Boys track playing in our heads, we took off for Ibiza to party in the Mediterranean Sea.
And what a party! Ibiza is as much a playground for the young and hip as I imagine Vegas is for slightly older people who like to gamble.
Our flight there was brilliant – beats sitting on a ferry for nine hours like we did on the way back to the mainland, three days later. We took up so much of the seats on the plane they could have rebranded it Fanatics Airways.
By this stage in our trip we definitely didn’t regret going with a tour group, as we had 50 people to drink with and go clubbing with each night. And we knew everyone on the tour by the time we left Ibiza.
Our first night was relatively low-key – for Ibiza that is, not for anywhere else – as we downed a few drinks with our mates on a balcony over-looking beautiful San Antonio Beach, and then went into the township to a few minor clubs.
Embracing all that is Ibiza, our second night was huge. Getting up around midday – as you do – we spent the day on the beach and in the hotel pool, before heading to one of Ibiza’s largest nightclubs: Space.
We knew the big famous clubs like Space would cost a lot, so we agreed we’d do it only once, or regret it forever. 50 euro door charge and 10 euro beers be damned; we had a fantastic time. Spread out over five rooms with space for 10,000 people, Space is absolutely monstrous. If you get separated from your friends you could walk around all night without bumping into them again. It was more like a concert than a club.
On our third and final night in Ibiza, the island that only sleeps between 6am and midday, we hit the clubs yet again. After watching a beautiful sunset, drinking and watching fireworks from our hotel balcony, we tracked down club representatives giving out free entry arm bands, which saved us more than 50 euros each. After a wicked final night of dancing – something that’s only fun in Ibiza – we were home by 5am.
We were on the ferry for Valencia by 10am the next day.
