As it is a critical part of my job to see a lot of shopping centres - we took the opportunity to head up to Newcastle to see a couple of schemes and spend the weekend.
The shopping and weather was fanatastic. Saturday morning we headed about 20 mins by metro to the coast for delicious fish n chips and a great view. In the arvo some more shopping ensued before a visit to the Millenium bridge.
In the evening we saw a lot of the local lasses - 'geordies' - out in their short dresses and big heals with no jackets, tangoed - and completely unaware of the near winterish temperatures! The accent up in north east is so Cheryl Cole - like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. But a great weekend out of London.
It must be nice to live in a city of eternal Spring.
Not that it's always warm in Newcastle; I'm sure it's absolutely freezing in Winter. It's just that nobody there seems to own a jacket. Even sweatshirts are a rarity. Walking around Newcastle, I was conscious that everybody knew we must have been from out-of-town, because we were the only ones appropriately dressed for the climate.
The weather was nice though. We enjoyed some stunning weather, particularly on the day we went out to the coast. We ate fish and chips, including the best piece of cod I have ever had, along a wall overlooking the sea. It could almost have been a quaint seaside town in New Zealand if it wan't for the historic and very picturesque castle/priory.
