A breeze through Brissy

Upon touching down in Brisbane my immediate thoughts were with the poor luggage handlers who had to work through torrential rain to see my bag off the plane! Unfortunately the hard core rain stuck around for a couple of
days, leading to a few days at the mall and a couple of rounds of cards. When the rain finally did stop, the heat and sun and humidity hit you like a slap in the face, a taste of things to come in Asia, I'm sure.

This Aussie stopover was fantastic as it meant I could catch up with lots of family who I hadn't seen in ages, and allowed me to enjoy my first Australia Day in it's homeland, complete with mandatory BBQ and swim in our cousin's awesome pool. We also enjoyed an overnight stay a short ferry ride away in Tangalooma where we had a wicked swim, great pizza and got to feed a dolphin called Tinkerbell in the sea!

The last few days we got into the city and strolled Queen Street and South Bank (check out Si's words on this infamous beach at manversusworld.com) with their awesome al fresco cafes and restaurants and had a couple of amazing swims at the man made beach. The water was glorious! We also river cruised on top of a ferry boat, marvelling at the beaut city scene from the river while the sun shone - before it was time to pack the bags once more for our next destination.
