A 6 week NZ summer

3 1/2 years is a long time to be away from the motherland. It was a relief to be back and surprising how easy it was to fit into kiwi life! Of course, not having to work or even contemplate returning to work, made it a lot easier.

With only 6 weeks between our arrival in NZ and onward journey to Aus before Asia, I managed to fit in a lot. Visiting and staying at two different sister's houses, one grandmothers and two bachs on two different islands, I sure got around a lot!

The sun shone generously for most of the time allowing me to partake in many of my favourite pastimes - BBQs, swims, drinking in the sun, eating kiwi favourite foods, sitting in a paddling pool, reading, chatting to whanau, playing Monopoly Deal, visiting old friends and work mates and probably most importantly, drinking lots of cider. Thank god NZ has caught on!

The bachs with my and Si's families were a highlight, as was our trip to the tip of the country, Cape Reinga, on a stunning day. Unfortunately all good things must come to and end, and everyone around us had to return to work, lucky we have only good things to look forward to in the next leg of our trip.
