4,000 Islands, or just one, Don Det

After an hour long ride in the back of a truck to the bus station, a sleeper bus where Si and I shared a double bed, a further 3 hour bus and a short boat ride on the Mekong, we finally made it to Don Det in the 4,000 Islands, Laos.

We found riverside bungalows complete with hammocks that would allow us some time to relax and a few options for non strenuous activity such as swimming, tubing and biking to a nearby island.  The heat was intense, so although we did make it to a nearby island by bike, numerous refreshment stops were required!

The restaurant and bar options were a tad sparse so we had the most fun riverside by hammock, drinking local whisky whilst reading and listening to music.  Whilst not our favourite part of Laos, it was a quaint spot for a couple of days rest.
