After a super super long day of flying we arrived in the big city and managed to sort out the tube and get to Paddington for only 15 pound each and in fifteen minutes. Excellent system whoever thought that one up.
Checked into our dive of a hostel and carried our bags up five flights of stairs into our room with a bed. Bed shit as the springs dug into our back, toilet shit as down another level etc etc. Lucky we are only staying two nights.
Next day we set off on foot and were staying close to Hyde Park so we traversed this and saw Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster, Picadilly Circus, Oxford Street etc. Can't wait to shop there! Travelled the whole city in the day it seemed, and on foot! Lunch and dinner about 8 pound each, water 70p, bag of lollies 1.50 - compared to Thai prices, horrendous!
Eurostar to Paris tomorrow - Vive la France!
Flying into London the tune from Eastenders was ringing in my mind.
Talk about bleak, London is hardly exciting-looking from the air. I was tired but not completetly exhausted like when we landed in Thailand because I managed to stretch out over four empty seats and get some sleep.
I think we saw about as much as humanly possible of London in one day! At first overwhelming, after walking around Piccadily Circus etc I am looking forward to living here. The weather has been fantastic during our time here so we've concluded that it must be sunny here in London all the time!
