This is living!

The sign says welcome to Ko Samui and it should have a catch phrase with this being pure paradise. We have been here a couple of days now and are having a terrific time - such a change for the better from Bangkok! Love the sea, sand, sun, sights, food, drink and even the smells! Even the airport was amazingingly beautiful.

First day was a big walk and swims on the beach and our hotel pool with periodic breaks for drinks and ice creams and food. Found the hotel by chance and it's only a short walk from the beach that is fillled with jet skis, sun loungers, lilos, yachts etc all for hire. Annoying salesmen wandering the beach offering games, clothes, ice creams etc - won't easily take no for an answer. Only other problem with this paradise is that the sea is too hot!

Second day we went on a group tour round the island and it was good to be in an air conditioned van driving around to avoid getting sun burn on the top of the sun burn! Visited numerous sites and crazy buddha things, grandma and grandpa rock (interesting genitalia looking things that they are), saw a monkey harvest coconuts, port town and a lame waterfall (seen better!).

Rest of the time we have been swimming in the hotel pool but tomorrow we downgrade ourselves to a more central town location with no pool but right on the beach - handy to stumble home to after a few late night cocktails.

Life is good in beautiful Koh Samui.

We've enjoyed nothing but beautiful weather. The atmosphere is vibrant andthe water temperature is sensational. We're having the time of our lives.

Our first day here we spent much of it on the beach and we swam for hours.Food and drink is cheap so we had a few drinks and meals at a bar/restaurantright on the beach.

Our hotel (or should i say resort) is absolutely fantastic. The swimming pool is great and we've had two great meals at the restaurant here. Tomorrowwe're going to move to a resort closer to the action (our current one isa five minute walk to the beach but a long walk from the cool part of town).Our new accomodation is 30 seconds from the beach or 10 seconds if you run.It's pretty much a cabin right on the beach.

Today's island tour was fun (the rocks that looked like male and female genitalia were classic - who would have thought they would be such a tourist draw card!) and a good chance to stay out of the sun for a bit (we're a fairbit sun burnt from our first day here).

We're going snorkling tomorrow, we'll let you know how we get on.
