Nice is nice

The Cote D'Azur (or French Riviera) is amazing.

Staying at a real YHA with a dorm room and shared kitchen and bathroom is not all that fun, but it does save a penny or two. Met a couple of nice aussie lads to chat to too.

View from the train of the coastline was fantastic and the view along at the beach in Nice was beautiful. What a shame it is a pebbly beach! Makes it harder to lie down in the sun all day in between swims! The beach was packed with sun dwellers and there are 'private' beaches dotted in between the free parts where you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas for extortionate prices. What a shame we aren't rich. The days spent lying on the beach with a book and ipod were great and the day trip to Cannes was also beach filled (but sandy this time! horrah) as all the shops close on Sunday. It was awesome just popping in for a quick morning swim before lunch and a bit of shopping before another swim or two before tea.

The day trip to Monaco was a bit confusing as we found it tricky to find our way around town but the mega yachts docked in the harbour were freaking amazing! Oh what I wouldn't give ...

Last few days in France were fantastic. It might be nice to own a mega yacht with a few jet skis and just chill out in the south of France when I am rich...

Next stop, Italy.

Nice is more than nice - it's fantastic.

The famed French Riviera is everything it's cracked up to be and more.

We met our first (and only) friendly Frenchman at the beach on our first day, and he took us out for a drink! The hostel was a great place to meet other travellers, and we even befriended a couple of Aussies (the horror!).

The pebbly beach in Nice was a little strange. Lying on rocks is not as comfortable as sand, but the water was absolutely beautiful and we loved the vibrant seaside living.

Cannes was amazing. We relaxed on the beach (sandy) all day and I was like a little kid swimming out to this pontoon and jumping off. Monaco was okay, but I think two days in Cannes would have been better.

Farewell France, hello Italy.
